I would say the Raq4i's may be dead but looking at the new launch of the Cobalt 550 I would say the Cobalt brand is far from dead. The box looks really nice and it starts at about $1600. Not that I use one now but I would reconsider for my next server once data centers start offering them.
I wouldn't say Cobalt's are dead they still have a big role to play in the world of hosting. The RAQ's are normally bashed by the companies that can afford the big dual pentium servers because they have more power. We've been using RAQ's for years and we've only just recently dropped our RAQ3 and that was a crying shame as even for 300mhz it worked a dream. It had 60 sites hosted on it and the load was very rarely over 1.00. Our RAQ4 is handling just fine with lots of php and mysql useage and the load never goes above 1.50 goes to show if you manage it properly then they can do the job.....
