I wanna connect to my mac that is running OS X 10.3.4 and has Apache running. I can connect to my mac and log on but when it gets to listing the files it stops and wont show the files. Is there a seeting that I have to configure?

How are you connecting to your Mac?
When you say it gets to listing the files, do you mean by doing an 'ls'? or some other way?
Or, are you FTPed into the Mac?

Are the permissions on the files and directories set correctly?
