First of all, I'd like to say that this comunity is really cool. I've been reading it for some time now, and I finally have a question to ask.
I am trying to set up hosting on a server I have recently purchased. The server is here in my home and I only have one IP address. I have been told that I need two of them to properly point a domain name to my home server. I am pretty lost as far as setting up DNS zones and all of this stuff. Do any of you guys have any links, or information that would help me understand how to run my own DNS server?

Thanks very much,
Mike Keen

It's not really worth the effort.
I would recommend you use a service like http://www.zoneedit.com/ to handle the DNS.

He is right.. I would use a third party to do the DNS hosting as it is too much of a hassle to try to setup on one IP.

If you did want to do DNS on a single IP, you would need to make your server a master and then have someone like ultradns or dyndns be the slave DNS server. This would give you the two DNS servers to meet requirements and also give you backup incase of failure.

Why use a 3rd-party when you can have fun learning and expand your own knowledge?

It's certainly worth the effort IMHO.
