Which Webmail?

Hey all,
I'm thinking of hand-coding my own webmail facility, but I wondered whether someone could reccomend a specific open-source project?

Also, what facility do you hosts provide? Why do you choose that specific one and where can one find it?

I'm not sure on the open source side of things, but I'd massively suggest DWMail; http://www.dominion-web.com/products/dwmail/

It's a great application, and users seem to adore it.

I've always loved squirrelmail. It works great for my uses. Plus its free
