Dells are probably one of the best if not the best but I also do recommend Appro, and Supermicro.

That's true, that's why probably the providers who provide Dell their prices are more expensive than the providers who customize them themselves.

Sure you can build them, but you will need a GOOD connection too. I doubt many household net connections are t3 or t1 style.

I would reccomend you do research on all the companies before you buy a server. If your going to be spending some large amount of cash, it's better to find a good deal and service. Some of the places mentioned above, will even create a custom plan for you.
