Hewlett Packard Server Lines arn't very great however they are fantastic in the PC, Laptop, Digital Cameras, Printers (Multi Function) areas. Hopefully one day they will invest more in their Server Brand Lines.

Been Reading some interesting information on Hewlett Packard too on Wikipedia:

``On 12 September 2006, HP announced that Mark Hurd, the current CEO, would replace Patricia C. Dunn as Chairman after the HP board meeting on 18 January 2007, but that Dunn would continue as a HP board member after 18 January 2007, a position she has held since 1998. Even so, on 22 September 2006 in a press conference, Dunn resigned, effective immediately, from both her position as chairman and from the board of directors. Hurd has replaced her as Chairman.

On 4 October 2006, Dunn and four others, were charged by California attorney general Bill Lockyer with four felony counts: fraudulent use of wire, radio or television transmissions; taking, copying, and using computer data without authorization; identity theft; and conspiracy. Lockyer has issued arrest warrants for all five of those so charged.

Dunn is scheduled to be arraigned on November 17, 2006. HP General Counsel, Ann Baskins, tendered her resignation on September 28, 2006. Baskins, who advised Dunn about "tightening control over Board members", has yet to be indicted by Lockyer.´´

Why do you feel that their (HP/Compaq) server lines are substandard? I have worked on most of their models, from the entry level ML110's up to DL585's on the Proliant line and the NS16000 on the Integrity line. I find their servers to be extremely well engineered and, way above average in their ease of servicibility.

It's really hard to judge HP materials from just a single experience. They like most companies have had good and bad products.

for example The printer I have from them randomly malfunctions. It thinks it has printed something when it really hasn't.

However the server I've worked with runs flawlessly while another server of the same brand dies frequently for no reason.

I think the company itself is investing the correct amount of money it just leads down to random popup problems occurring that no amount of money will fix.

I personally like the HP servers as well. The small business ones are very nice and sometimes at pretty good prices.

No doubt HP is best as far as services and support is concern, but i will go with IBM when it comes to implementation or introduction of new technology. IBM rulez technology wise.

We have a couple of HP proliant servers and have had no real issues with them they have run stable since they were bought about two years or so ago I wouldn't say they was substandard machines.

We also have made good experiences with HP servers. They had a real fast service when we had a technical defect. I would recommend them also for servers.
