Whoa. I was simply saying "I'm new here. This is the site behind the name." I wasn't advertising, just simply explaining myself and purpose of being here. If you don't allow that, then you are trying too hard to regulate your site. That turns people off.

From my experience with forums, that's not the way to welcome new people.

It makes managing posts easier when we stick to the rules for everyone, no matter the intention. You are still welcome and we are still happy to have you.

Ever considered thinking that new folks might not know the rules yet?

I would suggest leaving the post(especially not removing the entire thing), and send a friendly suggestion over PM.
