old news good news for them!!! Now people will think "My PR will go up if I buy a domain name from Google" now they will be in control of their own names and can make some money off ofthers as well since Google is number one SE

Yes, most people will not be interested in domains so they will offer it on a subdomain I would assume. They didn't announce GMail on their home page and just look how fast that grew.
