First, this is not to slam the host or BBB but...

I looked into doing this in early 2005 and found that the company has to pay for BBB services.

That being said, how real are the BBB rating? As we all know, we try to keep our paying customers happy..

@JerryM - yes, you do have to pay for their services. I think they just emailed me their pricing schedule a couple of weeks ago.

The BBB is somewhat like the licensing bureau in your state. It provides the consumer a means to resolve conflicts with the subscribing merchants. If the consumer is unhappy with your service they can file a complaint with the BBB which is made public. The BBB subscriber will then need to resolve it to have the blemish removed from their record.
