May 22, 2009,Webhosting-10.com released their greatly awaited top 10 list of website hosting companies for the year 2009.
The list includes companies that have been classified as genuine as per their view.
The list includes companies like Hostgator,Fatcow,Lunarpages and Ipower.
Of course If Its a top 10 list then there must be others Included In the list as well.
here Is a brief list of the companies Included in Webhosting-10's top 10 list :Bluehost,Ipower,Lunarpages,Hostmonster etc

The rest of the list Is available for view at their website.
They are also working on their other awaited project for a directory of more than 1000 web hosting companies, however the list is partially completed and available for view here : http://www.webhosting-10.com/directory
Website hosting companies are increasing at a break neck speed and website hosting Is being classified as a potential boom Industry.
It is also difficult to classify and rate hosting companies and therefor highly tricky for consumers to look for and select hosting companies on the basis of quality, speed, reliability and up-time.
Therefor Webhosting-10 had been looking to put across a list of hosting companies that have been tried and tested across the Internet and by Webhosting-10 themselves
They have put across a list of top 10 hosting companies on the basis of :
-Speed
-Quality
-Up-Time
-Support
& Reliabilty

So what makes this the top ten? I just looked at the Hostmonster reviews there and it had 4 thumbs down and NO thumbs UP - yet it's listed in the top five??!! Am I missing something?

Are you sure its not just another list of companies that have the highest affiliate pay-out?

Could you please describe the actual testing process that you have in place for each of the companies on the list?

The thumbs down or thumb's Is Intended to give the users the power to rate an Article not a web hosting company.

No,This Is not, check out the reviews,It gives a detailed view on why the host Is placed on the position It Is.
Sure why not,First we request the hosting company If they would be Interested In a review of their services, then We actually ask them for a free trial a/c to review their services and then If they oblige We actually go ahead and write a review.

You can check out the reviews too, their all not goody goody words there are some stern words used too.

That's all good and swell.

So each of the listed companies have provided you with a trial period of their service?
Could you please let me know what were the URLs used during the trials with each host so I can verify them with the hosting companies directly?

And again, what is the actual testing process that you have put in place that allows you to put a rating to a company name? What tests do you perform during the trial? What software keeps track of that? What systematic questions do you ask the company and when?

Please post what you sent me publicly as it might lead to follow-up questions.

You see, a very looooooong time ago I used to do hosting reviews myself (that's how the industry caught my interest), so I am very curious to validate your process to see if there is finally a source that does it properly. But we need data in order to check that.

My additional questions that you haven't responded to yet are:

- screenshots from the uptime software tools you use for at least a few companies you tested
- please provide the actual random domain name URL that you test so I can verify it with those hosting companies directly

I would prefer if all the answers are posted publicly rather than submitted to me in private.

Also, I have a question. How do you, if possible. Do any checks on the host to ensure the service they are giving you, that they are giving it to others as well?

That portion, I believe, can be summarized by average feedback/rating that other customers provide. Obviously there is always a margin of error and subjectivity, but when 1000 people rate a certain company in a few categories, more or less you can create a certain level of service expectancy.

I agree on that level, I was more pointing to some of the review sites that have the problem and also I am not sure about this one yet as we are still awaiting him to publish the details.

But with everything, has to come an element of trust.

Hi Guys,
Here are some of the up-time reports for some of the hosting companies on my list :

http://www.webhosting-10.com/lunarpages+review/

http://www.webhosting-10.com/hostgator+review/

http://www.webhosting-10.com/fatcow+review/

The domain's for which the up-time reports are undertaken are mentioned on the webpage(s) too.

They can be verified with their respective hosting companies.
Or easier do a whois check at Markmonitor.

http://markmonitor.com/cgi-bin/affse...omregistration

Thanks

An uptime report means consistent monitoring of server(s) over a certain period of time.

You mentioned you use these three uptime software to monitor URLs hosted at those companies: Host-Tracker, Xenos, Uptime Software, but you haven't provided the screenshots or the URLs hosted at tested companies yet. I am looking for actual uptime testing screenshots where it states what % uptime has been and over how long period of time?
