GeekBoards.com is a vBulletin based forum community focused on the following areas of discussion: computers, Linux, the Internet, web publishing & development, graphic design, gaming, science, technology, astronomy, science fiction and any other similar topics of interest.

The site has been online for 4 years. Google Analytics stats from March 27th through September 18th of this year can be reviewed at http://www.geekboards.com/geekboards-analytics.pdf Based on the analytics stats I expect traffic from March 27, 2008 through March 27, 2009 to be a bit more than 65,000 visitors. In the coming 12 months, from Sept. 2009 through Sept. 2010, the projection is 100,000+ visitors.

The ads are located on the right side of nearly all pages which include the homepage, forum index pages, thread listing pages and discussion threads. Ad format: 125x125, gif or jpeg, ~15kb (approx max file size). You can review the ad locations by browsing through the site at http://www.geekboards.com

There are 10 available ad spots. Each ad will display during every page view where these ads are shown, but the positioning will rotate. So, it should be approximately 10% of views in each ad position (10 ad positions stacked in a column on the right side of pages).

The cost for this advertising is $99 which covers 1 full year / 365 days.

*Note: Price is subject to change, however the $99 pricing mentioned here will be honored through the end of October and is based on availability (first come = first served). For any inquiries beyond October please contact for the current pricing info. All advertisements are subject to publisher approval.

If you would like to purchase an ad spot please submit a message via the contact form and include in the message the landing page URL for what you will be advertising.

Feel free to contact me with any questions via private message, reply to this thread or send a message using the GeekBoards.com contact page.

Hey John,

Nice forum. With regards to the rotating banners. If say we jumped in now with a purchase, and the other spots that are still being rotated, woudl we then go below the fold or would purcahased spots remain FIRST in the list prior to the rotated "buy this spot"?

Also, is it on rotation, or is it random display? Meaning person on #1 will go to #10 and 10 to 9 etc?

Hello Conor, thanks for your interest and for the compliment.

Purchased spots will remain at the top with the available spots listed below.

So, for example, if there were 3 advertisers then those spots would display and rotate randomly within the top 3 ad positions while the "advertise here" default ads would fill in the lower 7 ad positions.

Each ad is static in that it is displayed on every page view where the 125x125 ad column on the right is shown, but the ad spot positioning within that column is random, other than any unsold spots which would fill in the lower positions.

Hey Conor,

There are two ads on the site now. Figured I would let you know in case you wanted to take a quick look at the position and rotation.

Looks just as I thought it should Many people make it random but don't put in the exclusion that paid ads are listed first and then remaining empty spots are filled. Nice job!

As I said in my email - keep me a spot I have my guys actually doing two other banners here today, so I'll have them setup a 125x125 on your site also.

Thanks for the update!

Thanks for your advertising sponsorship & the compliment. There will be a spot available for you when you're ready to make your purchase. I'll be watching my email for the ad order notification and will get your ad activated soon as that comes in.

In case any potential advertisers are interested in viewing how this will all look, there are now 4 advertisements (125x125) running on Geek Boards. You can view them on the right side of nearly all pages throughout the site. If you reload the page a few times or view several pages you'll see that not only do the paid ads remain up at the top (with the unsold spots displaying lower in the list) but will also notice that the ads are displayed in that section 100% of the time while positioning within that ad section does randomly change with each new pageview. Be sure to check it out and let me know if you have any questions, etc.

One year worth $99? That's kinda expensive to me. Other clients only offer at least $50 to $60+ a year. What quality are you up to anyway? And how is it determined that we advertisers can gain more traffic to your service?

I believe it's a good value. Should work out to a good bit less than $1 CPM.

I'm not really sure what you're referring to.

Not sure about this, either. Can you be more specific?

Do you mean guaranteed traffic? Or how the traffic is tracked?
