Wrong. You can sign up for Verified by Visa and get GUARANTEED payment on 100% of all US Visa cards. It also will block chargebacks from ever reaching you the merchant. It's no BS, these are new Visa operating rules. So it must cost a fortune right? Nope. $300 to set up. $20 per month access fee and $0.10 per authenticated trx. You only use what you pay for. It only takes a few days to be up and running.
Here's an example for you. Say you are paying for AVS, fraud scoring and IP matching and it averages out to $0.45 cents per $100 trx. And you are doing 1000 trx per month. So that costs you $450 per month for fraud screening. However, none of those trx are guaranteed, and you could still have fraud slip through, so say you had one fraudulent trx get through. That's a $50 chargeback fee + you lose your $100 sale, plus you already shipped the merch, so you are out the hardware, which is another $75. So now your costs are $650/month.
With VbV in place, your month would have been different. Those 1000 trx only costs you $100 to protect AND 100% are guaranteed payment. You also had liability protection, so that 1 chargeback did not get through to you. It was blocked by Visa and given to the issuing bank of the fraudulent card. The bank paid the chargeback fee, and reimbursed the cardholder $100. You kept your $100 sale as well.
So in one month, you could have cut your fraud prevention costs by over 80% AND you get guaranteed payment. I challenge anyone to find an offer for guaranteed payment from anyone (CyberSource, fraud scoring, IP matching, etc...)
