New control panel looking for feedback

Hi everyone,

We're a new company building a hosting control panel that will allow you to centrally manage all of your servers and websites. Right now we're talking to many different people to find out what their needs are, what problems they have, and what solutions they've tried.

If you'd like to help us out by providing feedback, you can do so here:

Thanks!

Justin

cpanel is best for the centralized management of servers..... Time to time security patches are there.... They dont compromise with the security... For the Billing System you can use WHMCS ( Web Hosting Complete Solution )

This person is not looking for recomendations.
He is looking for input on what you would be looking for presumably that you don't currently recieve from the current options.

People will from any where if you provide then good thing. He is trying and may success who knows.

IBM was famous for these laps and now the situation have changed

The problem your going to have, is nobody will move from cPanel, DirectAdmin or Plesk!

cPanel, DirectAdmin or Plesk are the main PAID control panels, but their is kloxo, servercp, dotnetpanel and many more, so the OP is just developing another one.

It is true most likely not compete with cPanel, DirectAdmin or Plesk, but it will be used by some people.

I agree, but, if the OP is wanting to make something worth using, they need to try to compete with the top control panels...

people just arnt simply going to swap, thats all i was explaining, even if its free, if people are using something, why swap, if everything currently works?

Sometimes just working is not enough. There are things I like and dislike on all the control panels talked about. Maybe the one they are working on will have features not seen before or done a bit different.

Really what is needed is a bare bones CP that lets you install only exactly what is needed and what is installed is optimized. A high performance panel so to speak would be very interesting.

Please feel free to share exactly what works and what doesn't work for you with existing control panel software, as this is exactly what this thread is about.

NOTE TO EVERYONE. This is not a discussion whether the user and the team behind the project will be successful or not, or whether people will or will not switch from existing products they use. This is a survey about your needs as a web hosting provider, as far as control panel goes.

one ting in the survey that i dont see any needd for as far as waht info the op is after is

your URL
how many servers have you and who are they with

Some things to add to the survey;

Operating System (linux flavors - CentOS, FreeBSD etc etc), Windows OS
Billing system (for integration)
Resource Monitoring Software (if any)
Reseller portal necessary?
VPS environment (if used)

It'll be a tough sell for me to move from the platforms that I've used for the past 10 years, but that's not to say that I wouldn't. I've evaluated a number of control panels over the years. Good luck in your venture, I wish you the best of success!
