Datacenter

Hello:

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there interested in partnering to build a datacenter. Here is the information I posted at another place:

+++++++++

My company opened its doors in late 2003 (September) looking at the hosting industry. We've now realized the need for a datacenter in the Great Lakes region. We realize the amount of profitability involved and also work. The following is divided up into our plans.

Facility and Location
--------------------------------------------------
We are planning to be leasing space from a warehouse. The 2 locations we are currently looking at are great areas of town with strong power and connectivity grids. The first location, Salt Springs Road, is the home of the FedEx Depot, Toys R Us warehouse, and a huge SBC field office. The second is much like the first. We are looking to have at least 2,000ft of server farm space, not including the NOC and offices as well as storage.

Another option would be a family member of ours. He sells and constructs steel buildings and can give us a great rate. This is the second choice of coarse, but may be worth looking into depending on the investor and partnership.

Air Conditioning/Environment
--------------------------------------------------
We have a good contact who sells and installs Liebert systems. We are looking at 15-ton Liebert AC's.

Power and UPS
--------------------------------------------------
For battery backup, we are looking at multiple APC Symmetra SY16K & SYXR12B12 Bundle units.

For extended power, we are looking at diesel generation.

Server Farm
--------------------------------------------------
We plan to have at least 300 (custom built) servers (tower) on site as an immediate venture for co location and hosting. These will be Celeron 2.4GHZ, P4 2.4GHZ and P42.8GHZ. All will be on wire shelving (best value right now) and connected to the main UPS unites. A majority of them will be liked over IP to KVM switches. These will include 2x 64port and 2x 32port. We will also house dual Xeon backup servers, each with 2x 250GB HDDs, for backups along with tape drives.

We plan to have between 10-15 42U rack cabinets for colocation. Each cabinet will house a switch (or 2) and KVM. We will also have 4 15U cabinets for renting. Spare KVMs and rackmount UPS systems will be on hand as well as switches (10/100/1000) for customers to rent or purchase.

We also plan on using latter racks for cable management instead of raised flooring - this works just as well and saves on cost.

Networking Equipment
--------------------------------------------------
Routers will be Cisco, switches will be SMC 10/100/1000 stackables as well as Lynxsys.

Security
--------------------------------------------------
We plan on using Networkable cameras by Axis Communications. These cameras are relatively cheap through our distributor, work great, and have zoom features. We also plan to implement steel security doors, card readers, and hand scanning technology.

Connectivity
--------------------------------------------------
We plan to use connections from Qwest, AT&T, and MCI. All are available in the area.

Staffing
--------------------------------------------------
We will have enough individuals to start... 5 total whom all are on the "technician" level. If needed, more can be hired.

Marketing
--------------------------------------------------
Unlike many companies, we plan to take another approach. We plan to get involved with the community; go to conventions, events, and take part in items like the Regional Chamber we are now in. It is a fact that a large part of your sales are referrals.

We also have great connections through the chamber with Cumulus radio (50% off radio) as well as with Time Warner Cable, Comcast, and Armstrong. We also have a good connection with Baragona-MidAmerica Events whom is a promoter and who is directly linked to the Cafaro Company. Owners of numerous malls, ventures, and Eastwood Field... home for the Scrappers - Cleveland Indians A team. MidAmerica works closely with Clear Channel Worldwide.

We plan, as you can see, to launch radio, television, and other campaigns.

Why Us?
--------------------------------------------------
It's a fact. The datacenter industry is filled with those who just want to make a sale, not a lasting business relationship with their customers. We love what we do. We love the hosting industry and our datacenter will proudly display that attitude.

Cost
--------------------------------------------------
We are looking for an investor to fund this project. A partnership of 60/40 or 50/50 would then be formed. The total cost of this project is a fraction of what most datacenters build for. If you are seriously interested, we will talk more about cost.

Area
--------------------------------------------------
We are in a prime location. 1 hour from two major cities: Cleveland and Pittsburgh as well as other major cities like Chicago near by. There currently is a shortage of datacenters in the Great Lakes Region.

I hope this begins to give you more information. We're looking to get this moving rather quickly. So ask any questions you need to.

If you have any questions, at all, please contact me here or by Email. I hope through all of this, a strong business venture and relationship may be created as well as a lasting partnership.

Sincerely,
M. GUZA
