Those are really great steps. thank you Lucky.
But I have seen several times that people trust article submission. I wonder how much can it take to bring any results? Do you have experience with that?

But it takes some work to do it right. You should write and submit articles to the major directories fairly frequently, at least at first. Provide useful information and not just a sales pitch to your readers. Then include a link to your service in the bio box. Make sure you put what makes your hosting service different from others in that resource box to appeal to your target market. You'll see some traffic from those articles and it should grow, especially if you continue to submit more articles but the real benefit will be when the search engines pick up on your articles. If you optimize your article correctly, you will gain a lot of traffic from the search engines over time. Try to target keywords that have less competition along with your main keywords and you'll have a better shot at ranking well.

Good tips there. I see many people use SEO services for results like those or close to them. Some charge almost an arm and a leg, but people need to think more than "I have a website, I will get hits".

What major directories would you recommend?

I have never seen the point in using a service for SEO. A little time spent studying so that you can include keywords and so on and your website will speak for itself.

And really you should be able to make your site speak for itself-nothing else will sell it like a wealth of fresh and useful information. And fresh really is the key-whether you choose article submission or posting them on your own site, you need to keep the stuff coming. If you write a bunch of articles at once, don't post them all at once. Stagger them, one every couple of days for as long as they last.

Links should be meaningful, not just the thousand in an hour directories. And for that to happen, you need good content-it all comes back to content! People will re-visit you if you have good, fresh content.

I could go on all day about this, it's my pet subject.....

It definitely comes back to not being a copy with a couple things changed. However as this is getting harder and harder many people just giveup and use weak SEO tactics or pay someone else and then blame them when the website never gets anywhere. I taught myself SEO for my blog and although it took some time I finally got PR2 this past update.
