OK, so there is Twitter and there is Facebook - the two most common places for your company to be marketing itself in a social way. However, what I want to know what other services are out there that your company is using? What is the next big thing that you are seeing as gaining momentum/influence in social marketing?

Well, we do still have MySpace, but I'm not seeing any other services on the scope of Facebook or Twitter right now.

One thing we are beginning to use is video marketing and blogging. While this is not new, it is something that is very affective. Especially when you go outside the box of the hosting industry.

I agree the scope of video marketing is greater which can be used to enhance user experience and call on attention towards your products & services. In addition IMO, B2B model would work well because I see many B2B sites are still evolving around.

youtube and various other viral video places are something to market in. Blogs are often overlooked, but they shouldn't be. Twitter is good, facebook works well too (even the advertising on there) but at the end of the day it's all about content. If you're just rehashing what everyone else has, you'll not see the boost.

We also do marketing via the articles and we get "dug" by "digg" on a number of articles so that yields traffic. Even our knowledgebase gets spidered on a regular basis and is where much of our organic search comes through to our site.

Social marketing all depends on the niche. We're involved in a number of niche social things from health to home and garden, to web hosting and computers. We also do a lot of webinars that we're involved with or participate in. Viral marketing via video has been a huge turn for us.

I actually still have an active account on the original online social network --- www.friendster.com Anybody remember that one? They claim to have more than 105 million users worldwide, but, honestly, it seems like everybody is on facebook these days.

Also, there is wayn.com - social network for travelers and linkedin.com for professionals.

Friendster is more popular in Asia than in Western countries.

Blogging is a very good way. I dunno about social networks though since most people on those are just there to socialise with other people.

I've used Twitter in the past when I had a host and it got quite a few customers for me because recommendations would spread.

Like everyone here I used Facebook and Twitter the most. MySpace just never something I desired to get involved with. I found it annoying and very laggish (that's not really a word). Who knows what the next social marketing website will be but, I think once its put on the web and has a solid interface its going to catch on - fast!
