I recently read a very interesting article by Jim Rapoza (chief technology analyst for eWeek magazine) titled "
Separated at birth?" in which he compares Google to Microsoft and makes a claim that Google is starting to look more like Microsoft and Microsoft more like Google. His conclusion is based on all these announcements by the search engine announcing that sometimes soon they will launch something bigger and better - usually a Microsoft tactic. Google has been known for just releasing the new applications and taking people by surprise. They had no business warning their competition and artificially pumping up public's interest and expectations. Now, the plays are reversed. Microsoft's release of Bing was quiet and unexpected. People loved it. However, Google's announcement of Google Wave (the collaboration tool that's barely ready yet) and now the hype around Caffeine... Sounds more like something Microsoft would do.
