I inquired a few weeks ago with a company and non-stop since then I have gotten phone calls (of course during non-business hours), emails, and even LinkedIn requests from this guy. Is this the new deal when someone inquires about maybe advertising with a company, they hound you until you say yes?

it seems to be the norm these days
use these tips

1) get a free non geographic number to give out for these calls, if you get pestered just close the number down.
2) get a yahoo/hotmail email address to give out, so your normal emails are not spammed
3) never give out your LinkedIn/facebook/twitter details to any company you are not willing to do business with

Why not just tell him you're not interested, if you aren't interested?

I also hate it but yes, it seems to be the norm today. With the tough economic situation, selling is getting harder today and it makes sales people try harder to make sales as well.

As funny as it sounds, I have. Sometimes I wonder if these guys are just stalking me for that extra push in sales for them each month (seems to always happen the last week of the month) or because I am a female (or both).

No, sorry that is not the way I conduct my business, but you are more than welcome to take that approach. I just do not advise it.

I've never had a problem telling people that I'm not interested in their services. If they continue to call, block their number. If that doesn't work (or you can't) and they refuse to remove you from their list, add your number to a Do Not Call list. If they violate that, report them.

When all else fails, request their information (name, contact information, phone number, emails etc), and once you have all the information state clearly that you will be passing the information to the local police if they continue harrassment. That will surely get them to leave you alone.

I've not had anyone continue to call me after I tell them I'm not interested in their services, but there's a first time for everything I guess.

If you really want to go to the next level, Get their info, SEO the heck of out it, and post the bad experiences for everyone to see. Even better if you can get a recording of the call and post that to YouTube and the BBB also.

Tell them you're not interested, the second time they call back ask them if it's going to take a cease and desist letter. Maybe that will wake them up.

I used to get those calls all the time. Just tell them that you are not interested, and if they call again just yell a little louder

I actually had a guy go from direct emails which he pulled from my name into their company database (I am a subscriber of their magazine), to them catching me on IM (public info if you know where to look), to then LinkedIn and Facebook. I am impressed at the length someone wants to go expecting me to be a client yet does not realize their price point is no where near my own. E for effort?

I would just block them, ignore them, ban them from whatever you can and tell them where to go.

This is not a way to get business.

Lots of places will do that. They wont leave you alone. Just answer the phone and when they ask for you say wrong number or say your just not interested.

Many companies do that. It gets to a point were they are harassing you.

Tell them if they don't stop you will contact local authorities.
