When it comes to PPC programs, I read that keywords related to hosting service are the highest paying keywords besides keywords related to insurance and debt consolidation. It's good news for Adsense publishers, but what about hosting providers? Do you think it is worth it to advertise your hosting service through Adwords, Bidvertiser or Chitika?

Adwords and the like are good for specific types of industries, of which I do not strongly believe that hosting is one. You'll need throw a lot of money at it to see some returns.

Adwords do work, they have to be setup correctly. They work better when you are targeting small areas.

The trick with Adwords (and any advertising medium really) is that you don't just throw money at it and hope that it works. It requires research. Money is always better spent on specific niches or targeted individuals.

For example - if you go buy "hosting" on Adwords, you'll spend $50+ for the word.
If you go buy "us web hosting" you'll pay MUCH less.
If you target it even more and do "web hosting for web designers" you'll pay an even lower rate, but your target is more focused for the service you're offering.

This is true of Standard SEO Practices also. If you're just throwing money at it and not monitoring hte results and tweaking as necessary, you may as well just burn the money in pile as you'll get pretty much the same results.

Try to find the ad networks which have their own publishers. Most of their publishers have their own websites. They must need hosting. This can avoid to bid the highest paying keywords.

It's worth to advertise on Adwords and other PPC campaigns. A right keyword list would help you to spend less and convert more clients and spend more time in identifying the right keywords for your campaign.

Although some hot terms are actually too expensive to use, when it comes to investing in Google AdWords, especially in hosting area, but if you speak with expert marketers, you will realize that the broad terms are never helpful in terms of generating traffic for your website or encouraging the visitors to stop by, fill out the order form, and purchase a monthly or yearly package from your net store.

The way to succeed in AdWords and other similar PPC programs is to narrow down the queries and use some longer phrases, technically speaking, the long-tail keywords. If you have one thousand dollars in budget and then choose terms like web hosting, hosting or host, then within a few days your capital will dry up and then you will feel anxious about the outcomes achieved.

Now, what happens when you instead target some other phrases like "Very cheap Linux web hosting" or "Affordable Windows web hosting in Illinois"? In such cases, you will be having greater chances of virtually selling products to the customers, the folks who come from local markets and look for real services to buy, not just folks who make click on ads randomly and pay a visit to sites and then leave.

I agree with handsonhosting. Keywords research is an essential factor which need to be done before you start running adwords Campaign. I would like to share a thought with you all which can make your research a little bit easier.

If you are using “Live Chat Software” to assist your existing and potential customers, then you can analyze detailed information about the customers. The latest live chat software are able to show you the customer's geographic location, what search engine or marketing campaign they came from, etc.

Once you gather all the information, you can easily analyze from which keywords you are actually receiving the business.

There is a balance as well between total search queries anticipated based on the keyword or keyword phrase and the price you pay for those clicks; so that you can optimize conversions. And don't overlook quality scores. The higher your quality score, the better visibility you'll get for your keywords.
