Has anyone subscribed to this new web hosting magazine published by VerticalScope company?

Hosting Standard

Design certainly looks very impressive, but subscription is paid.

I just heard about this magazine through recent discussion with you. I'll be checking it out shortly though.

Doesn't look too expensive at least, only $15/year. Will probably subscribe later this week and check it out. Anyone seen this locally? Any B&N sell it?

This is the one published by the folks at tophosts.

Nice mag. High end production. Time will tell if it is able to compete with PZ and TheWhir.

Artashes : did you buy one?
Exon : Did you subscribe?

Are they any good? I could always just have them courier my monthly issue halfway across the world!

Great magazine; it's the kind that could totally whipe out anything in the past. Instead of settling with the inner-hosting community they're going to stores like B & N to sell on a more mainstream level. It's great.

I really don't care for Hostingstandard, to be honest. It just lacks the "down to earth" touch, that I think Ping!Zine oozes.

It lacks a lot, when you put it in a cover-to-cover battle with Ping!Zine.

I've wanted to check this out, but haven't had the time to go to my local B&N. I went to their site, but for the life of me couldn't find where I signed up to get that free copy they advertise. I guess I should just shell out the $15, it's already cheap as is!

Personally I found the magazine full of interviews from highly intelligent people in the industry. Great info, I even liked the advertisers in there like www.gotvmail.com I highly suggest them for a voice solution.

The review they did on the adult side was fantastic, there's one host in there.. well all I can say is what insight!

So is The Hosting Standard still in publication? I subscribed for 2 years back in April 2005 and only received 2 issues. I have been trying to rectify the problem but never have been able to contract anyone at the magazine. Any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't look like it is. The site seems to be dead/does not load.

Wow, that was quite a while ago.

I don't know what happened to the magazine, it looked rather solid with plenty of good information. If I am not mistaken, Vertical Scope was the publisher of the magazine - you might want to email them to verify.

As far as subscription goes, if you did not receive other issues and the website went down long time ago, they didn't pick up the phone, etc, I would have contacted the Credit Card company and explained the situation. Chances are, because its such a specialty product that takes a while to deliver, they would have credited the amount back.

It looked like they stopped operations in mid-2006:

You might be able to retrieve contact information off archive.org, Google or Domain Whois.

Best of luck,
