Should a Host Use a CMS-backend for Their Website?

With the rediculous number of sites being hacked and defaced and MANY of them due to poor security in the CMS (regardless of the password matter), I say CMS is fine for customers--select customers--but everyone else should be no CMS. No CMS means no worries of a site being hacked into (if you have already great security to begin with).

Though you have a point the word about CMSs (WordPress for instance) is highly overrated. Just take a look at all the hacks and security loopholes and see the CORE of the issue in most of them:

- CMS outdated version
- plugins outdated versions
- using unlicensed themes from third parties
- using unlicensed plugins from third parties

If one watches over their websites well and makes sure all is up-to-date, then the issues they will face are as low as with any custom coding. :rolleyes2

Nothing is unhackable even if you have CMS or Not. Opensource software will always be most vulnerable.

Tell that to Time Magazine, CNN, Playstation, MTV News, Sony Music, BestBuy, ESPN... Just to name a few. All use WordPress (a CMS) and all of them deal with a large amount of traffic and user base.

Your statements are very much incorrect. No CMS does NOT guarantee your site will not be hacked, that just makes no sense, sorry.

A website is not an island. You can build a highly fortified website , then there is no need for one if you will have to look everyone out.
People will always look for exploits, no matter the type of CMS.
Today it could be this CMS, but tomorrow could be PHP and why not SQL, and next....why not....maybe you!
