The more ram the less writing to disk. This equates to a better performing VPS. The less VPS per disk the better. This why we only use servers with a lot of disks.

Many providers out there probably do oversell, but you can see this easily in the disk IO of your VPS. If writing to the disk seems slow, its probably oversold.

If your disk I/O is lacking its most likely your host went with a budget raid setup on the disk's I would say 8 drive raid 10 or go home. 8 Drives and a 3ware card push some massive I/O rate's
