When you colo a server you have to think about the size of the machine you are looking to colo whether it be a 1U rackmount server or a 6U tower. How many of you send the railings with your 1U rackmounts or don't mind paying extra for the 6U tower? Can you actually fit more than 3 hard drives in a 1U case? For massive storage servers it seems easier to build a server tower as opposed to a 1U solution!

Runs great, all servers i have run sata w/ 16MB cache . it keeps the cpu load super low

Just purchased three servers (from rackmountmicro.com) and having them shipped to the DNOW datacenter this week.

yes i build servers, all my servers use 16 MB cache sata drives w/ centOS 3.4

I have 6 dedicated servers at intelenet here in California at the moment. After an extensive period of tests I have noticed that the northwood P4 core runs much cooler in a 1U case than a prescott P4. It is known that the prescott core produces more heat due to the amount of power it provides. It just happens that the first server I built was a 1U prescott LOL! Just ordered a northwood to fix the heat problem in that server! I will let everyone know how it goes!
