Is fantastico free, if so is this how I install it?

Just SSH to your server and enter following commands (you may also copy/paste):

cd /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot
rm -Rf fantastico*
wget -N http://netenberg.com/files/free/fantasticoinstaller.tgz
tar xzpf fantasticoinstaller.tgz
rm -f fantasticoinstaller.tgz

NOW GO TO YOUR WHM (replace xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx through the IP of your server, log in as root):
https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2087/fantast.../installer.php

Follow the on screen instructions.

If you get a Source Guardian error when you go to Fantastico for the first time, just run this command:

chmod -R 0755 /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/etc/ixed

Enter full path and filename to the "wget" binaries
Fantastico needs fully working "wget" binaries with permissions set to at least xx5 in order to work. For security reasons, you may have renamed the "wget" binaries. If so, enter here the full path and filename to the renamed "wget" binaries. LEAVE AS IS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS.

Ok I got to the setup but I dont know what to put here, when i leave it at what it is at, I get an error.

Its not free, you will need a license to run it from http://netenberg.com/fantastico.php to run it. They license by the server's main IP address.

I would also suggest contacting your host/DC as they might get a better rate than if you would go directly to netenberg.

As a matter of fact, when I was going to get a few licenses for some dedicated servers we have, I did just that and found out my colo was offering licenses for free with new servers lease and went ahead and set me up so I did not spend anything on those licenses. Worth a shot!

Well considering that they sell a license for $90 (1st license; then discounts on add'l.) directly, anything less than that would be a bargain. Most NOC/DC's get volume pricing (I would imagine).

Also, your provider might include it free if you lease the server with cPanel (or other CP's), or rather not free but adjust the CP monthly rate to include Fantastico DeLuxe...

yeah, it is definitely a steal at that price. Fantastico is great! Now I think everybody should start also purchasing their xController skin - I love that.

Not always there are a few data centers out there or associates of mine who give out Fan, Rvskin, Cpanel for free if you use their servers.. which ain't a bad deal
