I've seen a few VPS providers over the years such as VPS Farm offering unmetered 1/5/10Mbps as appose to xGB/month on 100/1000Mbps port. My question is whether there's a demand for this, and how many would rather such an offer?

I think most providers publish bandwidth plans, but will customize them based on their prospects requirements. Being flexible certainly helps close deals.

Yeah, but I'm thinking there may be some prospective clients that would rather have eg. 5Mbps and not have to worry about the total BW.

Everything has limitations.
Not sure how much the limit is at 5mbps.
But at 10mbps the limit is 3300gb monthly if im not wrong, then you can count yourself.

"unmetered" might catch some more "newbies" in this, than the experienced ones.

We have clients using everything from 1Mbps and up. It just depends on your prospects requirements, and their growth projection.

Let me just clarify..
Is there a demand for xMbps Unmetered vs 100Mbps w/xGB monthly limit?

Words "Unmetered" or "Unlimited" is only used in order to show clients that they don't have to worry about bandwidth usage as well as disk space. We have clients on shared hosting who use 80-120GB Disk space and 10mbps and also some who don't even commit 100MB transfer monthly and use less then 50 MB hdd space. So it's pretty equal and companies are capable to offer these "Unlimited" Deals

I haven't seen to much of a demand for "Unmetered" VPS's. Most people who will be paying that much for a VPS would rather pay for a dedicated server.

Well we are here looking at unmetered VPS. The problem is dedicated servers offer much better plans than what VPS offers. I would choose VPS only for root access and If I am looking for un metered space and BW I would go for Dedicated servers.

We have been seeing more and more demand for unmetered bandwidth plans on both our dedicated servers and our VPS. We don't offer it on VPS, and I believe that's also true for many if not most providers. In my opinion, for the most part, if you're doing something that is intensive enough that you need an unmetered bandwidth plan, you'll probably want dedicated hardware to support your needs. That is assuming you're not just using the unmetered bandwidth to avoid any bandwidth overage charges - which many people use it for.

Agreed. Although the amount paid for unmetered 100Mbps isn't exactly cost effective for that "piece of mind".

Peace of mind always comes with a price attached. I suppose it's just up to the individual/company to decide how much that's worth to them. But I do agree than at 100Mbps it can get a bit pricey for most people.

I find lots of people who want to know that they wont ever get a overage charge. I notice a lot of people inquire about it because it is sometimes easier to gauge your bandwidth growth as well. You can look at a 95th percentile chart and buy unmetered plans depending on the bandwidth need. Than you know you have the amount of bandwidth you need but don't have to worry about overages.

Good to see ya here Joe
You seem to offer unmetered 100Mbps for $1k/month on a few servers. Is that something you see a lot of demand for?
