I thought serverpronto had a decent reputation, maybe not stellar hosting but at least reputable business practices.

I've read a number of horror stories about them over the past few years. We used them for a side project a long time ago and I remember having major issues when we wanted to close the account (they wanted a photocopy front and back of both the credit card and drivers license of the account holder 30 days in advance). I'd advise anyone interested in their service to at least read some of these reviews before making a purchase

This is too much, Even thought you have a bad experience with the company it doesn;t mean it's a bad company. It means that you has issues with some of the staff and that needs to be addressed so they can fix it.

Never give a host your credit card information. Always use something else. The setup fee in my opinion was the big turnoff from deciding to choose them in the place since it was 2 times higher than the server itself.

Shows that today you can't even trust big name companies.

I have enlisted my trust in ************** and so far they have yet to disappoint me.

Host Gator is another big company I was recently disappointed with. A customer service person yelled at me over the phone and cussed at me.

Crazy. Moved that Host Gator account over to MyHosting and everything is smooth as silk now.

Well i got the "5$ promo" server, no issues so far, altho the specs they said they were going to give, i did not get, i got better. ( not by much tho ) I also requested MRTG, or some type of graph to see how much BW i was using, they said no. I ask about a new hard drive, they said no as well.
I also got billed for the 5$ again! after like 2 weeks when they first charge me.

IM not mad, im just.. watching out now after i see alot of bad things about them.

I was about to buy a server from this company. I searched around for reviews on their services and I was convinced that this company is a scam.

Apparently, they had $5 dedicated servers and whoever retrieved them were asked for more than $200 the following week. As stated by "czamora194", I would strongly stay away from ServerPronto.

Well, first of all, that was your first mistake. 5.00 dedicated servers are just a disaster waiting to happen. I have never seen a dedicated server cost less than 50.00, and I even stay away from those.

Remember the adage, you get what you pay for.

I've likewise heard some horror stories over at WHT regarding ServerPronto, but then again, I've seen some excellent reviews from them.

That's the problem with boards like these... All it takes is one or two disgruntled customers to come back and post a negative review, and then they are tarnished for life *shrug*
