What would you like to know more about? It's pretty wide open subject, narrow it down a little for us.

Thanks,

A virtual private server (VPS) separates you from other customers on a physical web server, running on a copy of its own operating system, but it shares CPU and RAM resources of the physical web server with other VPSs running on that server.

A dedicated server, on the other hand, is a physical web server leased and controlled by the end client, without sharing physical CPU and RAM resources with other sites. Its very much like owning your own server, without the huge capital asset investment.

Most hosts offer a mix of unmanaged versus managed services for dedicated servers. Unmanaged plans typically offer the basics – the hardware, operating system, control panel and Internet connection.

In a VPS, a single physical server is partitioned so that it appears as multiple servers. The physical server boots normally, then runs a program to boot each VPS within a virtualization environment.

With a dedicated server, you have more flexibility and control. Dedicated servers have historically been the server of choice for complex business or high end eCommerce sites, but have recently become very popular substitutes for VPS servers and less complex solutions.

A virtual private server (VPS, also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS) is a method of splitting a server. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted.

The practice of partitioning a single server so that it appears as multiple servers has long been common practice in mainframe computers, but has seen a resurgence lately with the development of virtualization software and technologies for other architectures.

Best way to put this is. A dedicated server is a full server where you have full control on it. Installing you're own os, control panel, and using it for what ever. A VPS has the same thing only thing different that a vps is a part of a dedicated so you don't get the full resources of the whole server.

VPS --> virtual private server where you get a slice of dedicated server.

Here you get a slice of cpu, memory, disk space. The processor is not so fast as dedicated since its just a slice of main node.

Dedicated server ---> here all the entire RAM and resource is assigned for your server.

You might want to look into cloud hosting as well if you are in the process of making a decision on what to run your business on.

Virtual Private Server (VPS) - a slice of a powerful physical server
into multiple virtual servers via a virtualization software. Each virtual server provides the features of a dedicated server. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted.

a VPS would often contain all the features and functions as a fully dedicated server. Usually used for larger sites that traditional shared hosting cannot sustain. If you're unsure of what you need then you could always start off with a small VPS as VPS are more scalable. You can add/remove resources (disk, RAM, and perhaps CPU) with minimal downtime if the host node has a high availability of resources.

VPS hosting is a smart guy that win money to divide a dedicated server in pieces for using as “elegant but false dedicated server ”. Divide a dedicated server bring more riches than the server it selves.
Therefore most VPS reseller saying [encourage that] it is better to get a VPS than a real dedicated servers; since this only in their own interests.
So, if you can pay a dedicated server and you want be the boss of the server; the choose is fast made. If not go for a poor VPS account {sorry, it is false to say a VPS Server; since VPS is only a part of a server}.
Hopes this helps you.

I say if you don't know the difference, go for VPS since it would have the same feature set but at a fraction of the price.. Who knows, maybe it's not for you..

Here's a couple I'll be considering soon (unless i read something about them)

As a matter there few bussiness which needs high level of security for this dedicated hosting is fine. However it depends upon the requirements of the websites.

There are a ton of promotions on managed dedicated that rival VPS. If you suspect you'll outgrow that VPS quickly, why not start with managed dedicated from the onset?

To choose between a VPS and Dedicated server would depend on the resources that you would require. The space, bandwidth that can be provided on a dedicated server cannot be provided on a VPS.
