Have to say that's a monster VPS, Conor.

One of the reasons that we offer such a configuration is due to the customer needing to scale their business.

With a dedicated server, if the customer needs 100GB hard drive, and then over the holiday season they're loading multiple products/videos etc they suddenly need 150GB or 200GB disk space, you can easily ramp up a VPS to handle the increased disk space VIRTUALLY rather than having to physically swap out hardware and copy files.

Same thing with memory - if they normally use 512MB memory on their site, but need 6GB to handle a sudden burst of traffic, you'd have to have scheduled downtime on a dedicated server in order to physically swap out hardware and even in some cases move them to an entirely new machine.

The whole idea behind a VPS is that it's scalable and it's your own environment. Yes, with todays market you can find 1TB hard drives and 6GB memory on a Dedicated Server for less than $200/month, but what about next month when the customer only wants to pay $50? You pretty much LOSE that dedicated server customer.

There are many advantages to VPS systems, and with SAN Storage there's even fewer limits on what can and can't be done.

We deal with eCommerce mainly, so we're always seeing things fluctuate with the various seasons. Our experiences may vary compared to other hosts and their clients/market.

Hello Zoom,

unfortunately you're posting in the open discussion forum for VPS, Dedicated and Colocation servers.

In order for any existing hosting companies here on the forum to be able to recommend their own services you would need to open a thread in the REQUESTS forum - http://www.hostingdiscussion.com/web-hosting-requests/

Webhosts are prohibited from recommending their own solutions outside of that forum location.
