not that serious as their is not the demand for other control panels as their is for cPanel. i have tired many others in my 11 years in the hosting business.

check the offers section on here, WHT and the many other hosting forums and you will see that 99.99% of offering are cPanel as this is what is most commonly used.

i have tried offering hosting with Plesk, DA, kloxo etc. and these do not produce the clientbase to run a profitable business.

What will you install on windows server? Companies selling windows server are not in profit? Can you host php and asp both with cpanel? . Have you ever compared price of shared windows hosting and linux hosting? Plesk is the most used control panel on windows server. Enkompass market is very less compared to plesk and its a separate product of cpanel for only windows server.

Just a side note:

I've made more money with singles sites than I have with web hosting. I may focus on that for a bit and see what comes of it. It's also easier to manage because all you have to do is a little support work and just check new registrants, the software does all the work.

I do have my web hosting site redeveloped and moved to one of my new VPS's and will see how that goes. I have two of them but thinking that may be too much of an expense starting out. I did it because I want the ability to offer cPanel and Plesk. I personally like Plesk better even though it lacks some functionality. cPanel isn't as intuitive as Plesk but offers more functionality.

Slow support is always a reason for hosting customers to leave

too true, but a host can reduce support requests if they have an extensive knowledgebase that will cover most situations.

Knowledgebase is a built in feature of WHMCS, but i am amazed at how many WHMCS installation i come across and this is blank

Hello there,

Sorry to hear that you're facing issues with your current provider. I'd encourage that you check out the offers section found on the main directory of HostingDiscussion.

As for the current provider, you may want to run it by the management of the company on how you feel as I could only imagine that maybe a new technician was assigned to your ticket, or possibly the company is outsourced where the technicians may not have access to the node that you're currently facing issues with.

Just a few suggestions and I wish you the best of luck!

If your going to be offering cpanel and are a startup webhost and looking to provide a good service at a low cost to yourself then you could get a vps because the cpanel licence for a vps is cheaper than the cost of a dedicated licence.

depends on which provider you use as some will offer cpanel for a dedicated servicer for not much more than a VPS.

cPanel for a VPS is from $15 to $30 a month
cPanel for a Dedicated is from $25 to $50 a month

Right. Because some part of the memory requires to run daemons as well as control panel. For stable performance at least 1 GB RAM is required
