How is it working out for you, I was going to open a free service until a free client nagged the heck out of me and I realized it was not worth it! LOL!

Well.. I dont need any money in, I paid for my server in a one-off payment ages ago, So I dont need to make profits lol, and as for the nagging customers, I have staff to handle those.

I do free hosting and have had no problem whatsoever, And you make the money from ads.

It is best to alwasy to manual activation, spammers and hackers will see instant activation and the will go fo it.

Good luck what ever you decide.

We're a mostly regional shop, so we do free accounts for community members. It helps build are local brand, and many of our free account subscribers upgrade to paid accounts.

We also teach a class at the local job-training center, and give free acounts to everyone who participates in the class.

We'd never automate the process though. As far as we've gone is a form that sends a request to our sales person. We want to know who every free account subscriber is, at least in a general

Regrds,
Erek

My plans start at $2/month i consider that to be really close to free. You can walk around a parking lot for 5 minutes and find 7 pennies and have over your $2/month. This is the reason i do not offer it for free, also i don't want to see my servers being abused.
