When your selling a virtual dedicated, should you use the term VPS (Virtual Private Server), VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server), say both or does it not really matter?

I know there is a difference but Im not toally sure what the difference is between them as I ahve never seen an absolute term anywhere and most people refer to both with the same meaning
