Does anyone have a partnership with other companies?

I have been thinking about doing it lately with a web design company so they can advertising my hosting on their site and I can offer their design on my site since I dont currently offer it.

I would like to also do domains but I just have to find the time to set something up myself and put that on my site instead of doing a partnership.

If you do have a partnership with someone from a different industry, does it work well for you and the other involved company?

Have you thought about the advantages and disadvantages of doing it before?
If anyone has, please share them here so others can think about things they may have missed out in their plans.

I had thought about that in the beginning of my hosting business, having an in house designer, even discussed it with a couple of gals. I personally don't see anything wrong with it and it can benefit you both, people entering from the designers site can view your links and visa versa leading to extra traffic, sales.

Yes do a good job of research on your domain reg. idea. I went with a wild west domains option and I don't mind it except for one thing, I can't have just a register domain box, it has to actually go to their site with my name on it, and guess what, I have lost a couple customers because they got confused and ordered thier hosting by mistake, so If my WHM Auto pilot doesn't have an integration option soon that will change how they order domains I will be ditching it because I am not going to pay $1000 or an API. There is a lot these companies so read all the fine print.

I think having more than one service on a site would be very helpful for users.
If I saw design and hosting available onthe one site I know I would be more likely to get both from the same company, but both sites would have to be as professional as each other.

I wouldnt be as interested if one site was very professinal, eg the design site, and the hosting site was very unprofessional, that would just put me off both to be honest.

So this would work, but make sure you go with another company that is as professional as yourself

I personally have a partnership in two diffrent companys in two diffrent sectors of the web. A web hosting and Development company.

See we do http://www.divinerecon.com/forsale/prohost/ that kind of work so we have defenitally picked the right business to start. So what if we design our compititons site, we will still be around :p

As long as your business would not interfer with each other, partnerships can be a good thing. It requires a certain level of trust. I personally are not sure if I would do it. Once I lose control over a client, I am not feeling confident about this anymore.

Nope,

It seems unprofessinal to me, but I do have partnerships with a security company, hackalert.info.

I havent done this, but has anyone done this or seen a hosting site selling advertising on their site for other non-competition companies, for example, selling advertising for a company providing domain names of that site didn't offer the same service?

>> Does anyone have a partnership with other companies? <<

My company did have some parnerships with other companies. However, in the end it was much more profitable to simply buy them out.

I think partnerships can turn out to be quite good in the end, however you always need to be certain of who you are about to partner with. I have only partnered with companies that are of the same stature to that of mine, which is very important to do. I also only partner with companies, in which I can foresee the possibility to buy them out.

Personally, my view on partnerships is very hard to define. They are "good" to an extent, but never keep them for too long. I only kept partnerships with other companies to the point where it was no longer profitable for me, and then I decided to buy them out - which has always been the case for my company.

Being a partner with a design company is a very good idea and I think you should do ahead and do it.

Anjay, if I keep starting up business that help you out a little bit, will you keep buying them from me?? LoL, JK

What type of work do you actually do Anjay. I have looked at both of your sites listed in your signature, just not sure what you actually do.
