LOL! My mate had some trouble with UnitedHosting.co.uk recently. They have a good reputation but their services is getting worst and the server migrations went really bad - they are still doing them lol

web1000. When I linked to a file that was not on my account (I was linking to an html file which was actually an htm file) it showed a 404 error and a porn banner. I stopped using them at once.

So they had banners on their 404 page?

They did when I used them a year ago. Some of my potential visitors where under 18 and so that kind of thing was unacceptable.

They were a free host though. I expect that hosts you pay for would not do this kind of thing.

I can't remember reading a warning about such a banner ad though. I would have expected it for such a banner ad.

Well companies that do that probably don't really care about their clients specially when you aren't paying anything.

Yes I guess your right in saying that.

Easily.co.uk a few years ago. £100 for about 10mb of space and 100mb of bandwidth, died in the first month AND to make it worse, you dont get the bandiwdth replenished without paying more!

ouch - how much did you loose

My worst experience was with my first paid host one year ago, I signed up, their servers went down for like 2 days. Then came up, I requested a refund since I was not happy with the service and they denied it. And they do have the refund policy on their Site. The thing is they say they host thousands of sites when they only host 100

And I won't give them free advertisign.
