I have been hit with a rather sudden and shocking legal issue that needs to be handled promptly. But now I find myself looking for representation, as I had none before.

Do any of you find benefit in retaining a lawyer, or at least having one you normally go to and maintain a relationship with?

My family has always had one lawyer deal with things such as wills, notary services, etc. We don't retain him, but if we need lawyer its always to him we turn first. If he cannot take something we need done he refers us to someone in his firm or a truster person outside his firm. A good relationship with a lawyer you can trust is worth working on.

Is this a web hosting related legal issue? If so, there are a few attornies who specialize in that very thing. I would be more than happy to give you a contact who is such an attorney.

I now have a lawyer, so it's all being handled. Unfortunately not a very good dude though, so I may well be firing them in the next week or so if they don't get off the 'little lady' trip. Grrrrr......

Is this issue as bad as your saying it is?

get a lawyer to handel this, this is probably your best option

What is your issue is it to with a cilent aswell? or just a company thing - mabe somebody has been in the boat and can help you a little.

Have a strong TOS and you should be fine

If you are just a small company then retaining a lawyer might not be a worthwhile expense but having one you can go to and rely on if you ever do need representation is definitely a must.

You could look into having one on retainer and see if the expense would be worth the peace of mind.
