Hello. I want you to share youê the worst experence you ever have. I think it would be hlpful for others

My absolute worst web hosting experience was with Siteturn.com or Siteturn Networks. Not bad service, but just horrible billing practices. They overbilled me not once, and I had to go through a 6 month battle with them for charges that were kept appearing for no reason. They even kept billing me even when I left the company for another 6 months, until my bank decided to just issue a new credit card for me because the charges kept coming. And instead of actually realizing their mistake, they were very rude on the phone when I called to report yet another charge.

I suggest staying away as far as possible.

Mines was with a reseller, who afterwards sold his business off. Basically it was a 16 year old high school student, running a server and selling hosting. The servers ALWAYS had issues and he wasn't very good with his tech support skills. I believe the place was called something along the lines of pixelone. I can't quite remember the name now, but it has pixel "something" in it. It's been ohhh, over 4 years now since I've moved from there.

If you don't want bad experiences, ALWAYS do your research. You shouldn't rush into find the right host for your site/forum. I'd also reccomend you try their support system and take notice on their time and type of reply.

Our worst was just with a reseller we had recently moved from. The server was horrible and I was getting downtime reports almost daily from our tracking service and started to get them from the few clients we have.

My last support ticket to them was about our account in general and about the downtime issues. They responded with ... 'what issues?' .... I never bothered to respond and am happy to report that we are extemely happy with our new hosts.

This story dates back to mid-Nov. 1998 when i was hosted by a bunch of fresh techies who formed a group and started hosting. Hosting was in its early stages then and since the people running it were techies themselves, so i thought of going with them. Things went fine for couple of months and i decided to prepay for the hosting on annual basis, seeing that journey so far had been impressive. Things went fine for a couple of months and then suddenly everything disappeared. Seemed, my site didn't even exist then. I rang up the support number and no one picked up the phone. I tried another number and no reply from that too. I contacted the parent company and came to know about lapsed payment resulting in their reseller account being washed off. And surprisingly, it had lapsed a month ago and they were just not contactable, not even for parent company. Fortunately, i had backups and wasted no time to move to other host, but inconvenience caused was just too much. In addition they never returned my payment for months i could not use their service. In fact the telephone number provided by them was never picked up by any one and a few weeks later, it had message "Disconnected".

When I was using GoDaddy I accidentally set up two accounts (at that point I was hosting with a few companies for a variety of reasons) - the long story short: when I asked them to collapse my accounts into one they wouldn't let me, even though I was obviously one person, because I had used two different credit cards or something. Fairly stupid if you ask me

To be honest, the worst I have ever had was AHPlace! They heavily over selled and they expected me to place backlinks when they had said nothing of it! They also started introducing a whole bunch of things that you had to do in order to keep your hosting (e.g. Monthly posting) and it just started going over the top!

That sounds too much like a free hosting company.
I don't think you really expect good service when its free, do you?

Actually, I would. I expect decent service from free email providers, I expect such from free hosting providers.

However, it seem that clookid has more of an issue with what the host demanded than the service itself.

There must be a lot of people who must have got bad hosting experiences in host services but if one opts to do a thorough research in selecting a good host then there are very few chances of getting tangled in there but coming to the point so far I have had no such experiences and I'm happy about it.

I found 123-reg.co.uk hosting vey bad. There customer service is very bad. They keep you on waiting at phone for hour and heavy phone charges as well.

I never had any worst hosting experience so far (luckily), But one of my friend whose in the very cheap hosting business, u know those hosting sites who charge just $2 bucks for a one whole year and even reseller plans which sells for dirt cheap ($10 per yr) This guy recently had his worst nightmare as lot of his dirt cheap unreliable severs went down permanently and lot of his clients lost all their websites and files and their all helpless at the moment without even able to backup their lost files. Its a total web chaos, So my advice to everyone is that, if you want web hosting always go for quality and reliability and never go for those dirt cheap hosting plans who offers unlimited space or transfer or even terabyte plans you simply cannot offer such recourses in real world unless of course you get some unreliable cheap expired servers.

Not all dirt cheap companies are bad. In fact I hate the idea of this being said because it puts a bad taste in peoples mouths. Grant you, there are those rip off companies and yes it true that they charge little for a lot. But not all them are bad. Take the company I work for. (no this is not an advertisement) We offer fair prices. But our support is always as professional as we can get. We work with our clients and we have a good team. It does take work but it can be done.

I forget the companies name, but this was back in 2001. I was working on a personal project and needed a host. So, I found one that seemed to have a good reputation. A few weeks in, I noticed some serious down time, then I got an email saying they were selling the company. It was also around this time, I noticed that every so often, when my PHP scripts were called, the server would just sent the source to the user instead of actually passing it to PHP (I wasn't happy about this...)

So, I canceled my account and of course got billed again. Finally got that straightened out, and I just moved on. About 2 years later, I found the IP and login information in my FTP program again. Forgetting that this info was to an account I didn't have anymore, I tried to connect. To my shock, everything I had uploaded was still there, on a server located who knows where, and I still had access to cpanel and everything else. So, they hadn't cancelled my account, just removed me from the billing list.

And that was when I started to get paranoid about how secure my webhost was.

Some of these stories are really bad, but teaches hosts thats on the site, where other hosts have gone wrong,

One I remember ok its about 10 years ago, when I first got into the web, I signed up to a website, that was unlimited webspace and bandwidth(but bandwidth was unknown to me at the time) was down, most of the time the site, and then all of sudden went dead, without an even e-mail why, but that was a free host.
