You are not even going to get a BAD free web host that will offer you 5gb space.
Perhaps you should evaluate your needs and look into paid hosting.

fad, 5 GB of space is huge for a startup site. Unless you plan on hosting big files like music, software, documents, no one really needs that much space. If your requirements are this big, I suggest looking into a paid solution off the top. Not to mention that most free hosting companies are unstable and they do not provide good support. You don't want to spend 5 hours uploading your site just to find out you have to find another hosting a week later.

Best,

I know of a good free web host and they have been online for over 2yrs now, so they are reliable and they have excellent support, but believe me, they will not give you even more than 500Mb, leav aside 5Gb.

5Gb = 5000 Mb and it is ALOT
People usually look for that much bandwidth but even that is alot if you are starting up and its a new site.

Just re-evaluate your needs.

I am not saying you won't get it. There are some kids who will give you even 10Gb space, but then i often don't find them next month.

Choice is yours.

Find a host that allows you to pay monthly (without charging a huge setup fee). It's not like there's a shortage of hosts out there.

Make sure you do your research on the company though, to see if they fit your needs and expectations.

On top of that, find a host that allows you to host and (I am guessing) stream/distribute music files because there could be copyright issues associated with that enterprise. At first complain/legal letter a lot of hosting companies will shut your account down first, then ask questions.

Best,

Your point Art reminds me of yet another thing.

Some hosts that offer a lot of disk space for cheap, will put various limitations on how it can be used. A website serving large files might not be (directly or indirectly) allowed to be run from their servers. So always read the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy carefully.

5 GB for a music site? I hope your not going to upload copyright music? If so, either get a offshore server. Although, I don't reccomend you even host music/mp3's at all. If you get caught, your host will most likly shut you down.

One sensible approach would be to use file hosts like rapidshare, megaupload to upload heavy files and have decent hosting from web host, so in that you can have hosting from a good host and at same time not stress their servers or invite an account suspension.

If you think in the near future you’ll be switching web host than do that thing now by choosing a good web host because anyways 5 GB space is a lot of space so if you really need that much than consider going for paid services now itself if it fits your budget. There will also be loads of ad banners on your site if it’s free hosting so you have to deal with that and they are not reliable as well.

Try a free web hosting provider like 500megs.com but you will DEFINITELY not get any free hosting with 5000 MBs of space.

If you need that much, go for a paid one.

I read about a host which offered 10000 MBs of free webspace and 100 GBs of data transfer per month unless your site doesnt volates their TOS and AUP.

I dont remember the URL now but if I get it, I will surely post here.

Basically what you do is go with a paid host. That will solve most of your problem. But Dont violate the TOS!

Are you serious? It is almost impossible to find a free web host that will offer 5 GB... But! Luckily; I have a friend that owns a paid to post website (http://www.overnighthoster.com) and he offers posting in exchange for hosting; perhaps you could consider wheeling and dealing with him.
