I ran into this problem recently with a client. She wanted to access her webmail account with cpanel on her office laptop and I could sense that she would on the verge of leaving my hosting business because her default cpanel webmail ports were blocked by the laptop firewall. I asked can we disable the block used on the ports she said no my boss will not allow that! After thinking about the problem and wondering what could be done to fix her issue I ran into a website that fixed her entire problem!

The website is www.cpanelproxy.net which allows for you to change a client's webmail account by specifying a domain. It changes the domain from the default cpanel webmail port 2095 to port 80 so that it can be accessed using the standard port where websites are normally served through. Now a problem can occur if the office place decides to block port 80! That is when I will provide you all with a new customer! LOL! :p

I've been recommending this our users for some time now. A good PD file.

No problem, I figured this has happened with other hosting providers as well. It definitely got me out of a sticky situation!

Thanks for that that might help if i ever have that problem. As for them blocking port 80 that would make them be blocking pretty much every web page wouldnt it?

Well they block ports for certian reasons right? If you are supose to be doing work at work that is what they want you to be doing WORK no Personal business

I wish I had this script a few years ago when I was working with a school system building their web servers and doing networking. From inside we could not access hardly any outside ports because of a very strong firewall. They blocked virtually everything but port 80 and then filtered that (because of student access).

Getting any other work done while I was there was like pulling teeth. Almost all the proxy sites I knew of were blocked and I had to setup my own script on one of my domains to cloak myself. It was quite a pain just to be able to get into WHM.

I'll definitely bookmark this - no telling when I might need it again.

BTW MangoWebs - is your domain expired? It seems to redirect to a domain registrar???

A forewarning: These proxy scripts can *sometimes* cause your server load to sky rocket. Had my server crash a few times because of them and ended up prohibiting them.

I've heard of this before. I never utilized it, but I did hear that a very few number of users had security issues with it, and since I didn't need it I opted out.

I have always advised strongly against this as it causes problems and has actually crashed a couple of my shared servers before.
