I always see people asking this question but I think it all depends on what you need for your site.
Theres no point in going with a host who offers unlimited space and bandwidth if you only need 10mb space and about 300mb bandwidth, its also more likely that the host offering less will be a lot more reliable than those offer unlimited everything.
Them and their unlimited hard disks...
Im still looking around for mine

Last time I asked for a unlimited hard disk they told me that they had not yet been invented.

I don't really know anything about free hosting. I used Lycos at one point but it was to slow for me.

I used Lycos a long time ago, they were really slow.
I think a lot go with them to use PHP forums, not sure if you can still do that or not.
There are a number of very small free hsots which I think are far more reliable and offer a better service but they are just not known.
If you search around you can find a good free hosting service.
Of course its not very likely that it will be nearly as good as premium accounts

I started out with lycos for forums using phpbb, but it was horribly slow.
www.freewebs.com isnt too bad if you just want a site.
Beware... no ftp....

That looks like a very good site.
I remember the design so I must have been to it a long time ago.
I have never used them myself but I havent used a free host in a very long time anyway

I'm 15. My mum bought my hosting account for me via check. I then payed her later. Also here in Norway you can actually get a well paid job when your 13.

Merged your posts as requested DrenFeST
A lot of hosts do take cheque but most dont list this on their site as a method of payment.
If you would like to buy premium hosting just contact a host and ask if they would accept cheque or a money order, its very likely that they would do it but normally only if you prepay for one year.

You can work at the age of 15 in U.S. if you have a permit, or 16 and up w/out.
I think we may be getting a bit off topic..

Yeah think so

I think lycos used to be a lot better than it is now. Many of the free hosts are putting more and more ads on sites now. It used to be one banner at the most on each page but now I have seen a few have more than one popup and a banner on every page.

A very good free host if they decide to host you.

I havent been on that site before but it looks like they offer a very good service!
I would like to check out their forum to see what thats like but you have to signup to see what the posts are, just dont have the time to signup right now so might do it later.
It looks pretty big though.
Thats the kind of host I like, one that offers good plans and they go through their application manually, think its better for them and the members on their free server (means there will be less sites - better resources and speeds in return)

My first host was Lycos but I cant say its very good. They give you quite a lot of space which is good 50 MB But the downside its popular and always busy and slow. FTP Is quite fast though it must be said.
