What are the top 5 things you look for in a webhost for your site?

Mine would be:

1 - Support
2 - Features
3 - Uptime Guarantee
4 - Good control Panel
5 - Good server specs

Oh and of course, Unlimited Bandwidth

I look for the following, usually in this order:

1. Unix / Linux
2. cPanel / WHM
3. Support / Service
4. Uptime gurantee
5. Good Server Specs

aha, of course we all want one of those unlimited mb/s connections and unlimited gb hard drives eh John? I wish the hosts that offer unlimited bandwidth and webspace would fill us in, we must be shopping in the wrong places.

1, free
2, cheap (though preferably free)
3, good value for money (or free)
4, free support (to accompany your free site)
5, actually I do think good support is the best thing with any host, good support shows the host is dedicated, and commited to good services...

I think the first thing I would have a look at would be the pricing to make sure that it is realistic and also which differs most of the kiddie hosts with the real hosts. Then second would come support and server specs including reliability. I think these are the most important things I will ever look at...other than the others

1. Security (firewall etc...)
2. Uptime guarantee
3. Provided Databases
4. Installed Components
5. Control panel and other web based tools
6. Price

If I will need hosting I will go with see eye...

I would look for features I want
Reasonable price
Good uptime
Knowledgeable and prompt support
Honest - not using too many fine prints

3. Multi-homed Network
4. Communication with the Main Admin (Boss)
5. Good Server Specs
6. Nice People on Support
7. Good Control panel
