Has anyone used the Google Analytics service? http://www.google.com/analytics/

Just set it all up now to see what it's all about. Anybody else used it and would like to share any thoughts on the service?

Well... they said data would be available in 12 hours and it's been about 66 now and still no data. I guess they are just super busy with new signups.

As soon as the data is ready I will make a post!

Today google analytics has a lot of very good features. For me i usually look on the reports where I can see the loyalty of the visitors... New against Old.. It is very nice and customized to your reporting needs...

I suggest to use this one, if you have adsense you can also link it from there to see where/what pages are mostly click... very nice!

Thanks!

Talk about an old thread being revived... it's been 6 years since the last posting on this thread. Please tell me this wasn't being done to raise a post count limit and you're actually going to provide some details as to why it's so great.

Also, you said you could customize to your reporting needs... Care to elaborate on that?

This is the only thread out of several webhostingcs posted in from many years ago that I am not going to close.

Instead, I will give the user a chance to contribute something of value to this discussion and answer a question that you raised regarding customization of reports. I am sure it will be of interest to others.

Hello,

This is from google Help Page for those who needs a quick start in creating custom reporting in Google Analytics:

http://www.google.com/support/analyt...y?answer=98527

Usually what you needs to understand is what "metrics" and "dimensions" you want in your report, this is just a drag and drop thing in analytics (that is why customized)... then once all set you click create report then thats it...

One more good thing in analytics it has a very very nice apps in iPad you can you. This is the link to the app:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/analy...373676475?mt=8

And that is FREE!

Btw another great thing with analytics.. they have a new version (GUI) but still in beta.. same as with adsense and gmail (if you notice you can change to the new version... its now using ajax.

The new version of analytics beta is more simplified, you can notice on the left side navigation it is categorized properly... not unlike the old version on first glance it will really make confused on what to click and what to do...

Not a bad youtube on Google analytics. I think almost anyone who runs it will find that the tools are more than helpful and the fact that it is tying into some other products like adsense isn't a bad update. Correct me if I am wrong but the newer version also updates stats. live where in the previous version you had to wait for a day. It is a great tool that should not be overlooked.

Here are some reasons why you should use google analytics:

1. Can be exported to excel easily

2. It has internal search statistics

3. Realtime updates (but still in beta)

4. Google Adwords Integration (adsense)

5. You can track loyalty if your visitors

6. Customized reporting (as based on what you want to appear in)

7. There is a PDF Export

8. Report Finder (you can search your data reports)

9. Bounce rate (this means you know how long visitors stays)

10. The Price is FREE ($ 0.00)

Thanks!

I use Google Analytics every day. It's just part of my routine. If I see spikes in views, I make annotations as to why.

Are you sure that you put their given code in your web's headers? It is important that their given code is called on your each page so they can record the traffic of your web.

With out code, they can not show data of your web's traffic.

Analytics is popular because you do not need access to the server logs. Every website you visit gets information from your computer and this is stored in the server logs. These are simple text files that quickly grow very large so there are things called beautifiers that take information and put it al lin some sort of order.
