Forgive me if this has already been discussed somewhere else on the forums, but I personally have not seen it.

Anyway, there are quite a few people out there who seem perfectly happy just using various paid web hosts, while others prefer to buy a server and host everything themselves.

What do you prefer, and why?

Personally I lack the money for a good server, nor do I have the patience required to maintain a good server. Using other peoples servers can be a great way to save yourself some aggravation, especially if they have an up-time guarantee.

What are your thoughts?

I think that you have to understand that all depend on what you need to have hosted. And in this case you have to understand what you need. If you have personal web site you do not need huge server for it. But if you are rich enough you can do that for sure. Once you feel you need more buy more. I think that the main option to decide on this issue is you current needs.

For most sites out there, a dedicated would be a waste. A personal monetary waste, and an energy and resources waste if you like to take a global look at things.

I don't place much if any weight on such guarantees. They're just monetary, and you'll likely find thme not to be worth that much, once you read the TOS. What's a full refund of your monthly fee, if you've just experienced a day of downtime?

I do have the same feelings couple of months before but after getting "www.drupalvaluehosting.com" services i am satisfied now. Drupal is offering enough data storage space and have many packages according to the needs of customers.

Depending on how large your site/organization is, as well as how much your knowledge is about even running a server, then it may be credible to buy a dedicated server.

Alot of people don't know much, and therefore they require a host that can do this for them.

I do have to say though, I have dealt with some smart cookies who still use regular hosting, and have no problems with it.

If you're not 100% comfortable with managing a server, I would suggest letting another company host/manage your server. There's just so many things that can go wrong, and unless you're capable of fixing them, you're just going to face long downtimes and ultimately an unstable server.

Guys, did anybody buy VPS servers from Atjeu (http://atjeu.com ) ?

If yes, what can you say about their VPS servers?

There's alot to contend with if I were to run the hosting myself. The cost of the equipment, adequate bandwith plus maintenance. I also wish to use my time on other things so I opt to buy hosting services. I find hosting services affordable and reliable. Best choice I made.

Glad you're happy with your choice
managing servers isn't as easy as it sounds.

It really depends on your needs. Buying your own dedicated server can be quite expensive. I'd say its most likely not worth it unless you really need complete control over the server and are not concerned about the expenses. Also servers are very complicated and if you aren't familiar with them, you will most likely find it to be more work than you expected.
