There are various factors that make a forum better than others. One vital thing you must consider is the quality of service offered by a web hosting company. You will need enough space to have a forum or discussion board in the Internet. You must also have ample bandwidth so that your website is supported by huge traffic.

Before hiring a web hosting company, you must also check the web hosting company's server up time. Many web hosting companies claim to have ninety-nine percent server up time; however, this is not always true.

Fantastic article. I completely agree that many hosting companies do not have the uptime that they advertise.

Forums definitely need to be uptime, nearly all the time because when someone visits a forum and finds it inaccessible, they may leave and not returning back for some time. If the forums are monetized using some PPC programs like the Google AdSense, the downtimes can definitely influence the earnings as well.

And forums with a lot of traffic will have visitors from all around the world/time zones. So it really needs to be up 24/7

forums use some CPU with mySQL and php.host also needs to allow some cpu usage on shared hosting account,or you will get suspended soon before you even fill your BW quota

In theory, that's a good thing to do. In practice, it's an almost impossible feat when it comes to most hosts, as they don't publish uptime. One can guesstimate that uptime is good enough via a proxy: customer reviews.

With a forum, server performance is quite important as well. If the company is big enough, one may be able to find a couple of forums that they host, and get an idea regarding that.
