It's one thing to be friendly it's another to use up resources on free installations that could be used for support issues.
Third party installations are not support issues.
It's nice to offer it but if you have thousands of clients it's just not practical outside of an automated script.

This is true, the host should not be required to install third-part scripts upon request. However, there are many hosts that would have no problem installing popular scripts like wordpress for you free of charge. It never hurts to ask
