If they set up the service at your request then I would expect them to still charge the setup fee.

Even if you didn't actually use the VPS, they did the work that you asked them to do by setting it up for and they would likely still want to be paid for that work.

Agreed, you pay the setup fee for the company to carry out setup tasks. It's like when you order something online and pay for delivery, if you return the item, only the item price is refunded and not delivery

Since most VPS's today don't have "Setup" fees I would have to say that if you don't use the service and request a refund within a reasonable amount of time you should get it in full.

In the event that your first invoice has a "Setup" fee on top of the actual fee for the VPS then I can't see it reasonable to ask for that back if the service has already been setup fully and is in working condition.

Depends on the providers TOS - but set up fees are labor fees and aren't normally refundable.

It certainly is fair because that may have been their last VPS. If they were to refund you because you didn't use it they would be loosing money as it costs money to keep the server online.

Certainly, whether you use the VPS or not the company has to pay someone to setup the VPS. That's a cost to the company and that's why it's passed on to you the customer.

^ I'm sorry if that sounds a bit harsh but it's true.

Set up means service works properly and even if it works properly if the website dont specify set up has a expense then they shouldnt venture to charge because they told me they was to refund me and I said ok then cancelled but they didnt refund just suspended the service,I guess the problem here wasnt set up sorry boys it was that the host offered a refund that didnt end up being refund and I thaught maybe it was because of set up cost but anyway the host went wrong in offering refund because its no proper term to situation

Companies typically state what is included in their money back guarantee (if any). It is always best for you to read up on this policy before signing up with a provider

I would say that if a company offers VPS servers and they make you pau a set up fee and then after the whole server is fully done up and running then when you ask for a refund they do have the right not to give you back all your money and may keep you setup fee that you paid.

Setup shouldnt be included in a refund, always ask for trial periods before purchasing, that should waive setup intil invoice is billed.

There's always time, money, and efforts invested in any business. So even if provisioning a vps is automated there has been significant investment behind it, so i guess refunding the setup charges would be harsh on the provider.
