Tedious and boring legal documents should all be drilled down to simple lists of things you can or cannot do.

It's a matter of user experience.

Lets face it. That is true, nearly no one reads terms or conditions.

If only it could be that simple.

Many people don't read the TOS or just skim it. Not such a good practice as it can lead to many problems if you are assuming things that might be differently stated in the TOS.

We actually do read them when we buy new dedicated servers and we will also send out e-mails to make sure we understand right.

However, for the normal client, they may not have time or really know there are such a thing. We have noticed a lot of people under the age of 18 signing up for web hosting.

Another true point here. Most people who are more involved in the industry or those who are business owners and sell goods online, know about the importance of the TOS. These also normally read it whenever they purchase, or at least read the most important statements (at least what they think is important). The truth is that the average person, even though they might know there is such a document, will just skip it because don't realize it is important.

Poor lawyers that write the TOS. Their work never gets read.

sure, as long as its something that seems to be trusted in the community, i wont read the terms and conditions either and just trust that there are no big issues that have not already been smoothed out

new company or something unfamiliar, whole different story

Unless you're a lawyer, you won't enjoy reading a long legal agreement. Even if you are a lawyer, you probably won't enjoy it. It is a problem though because if people did read them, they wouldn't complain later when they find out they agreed to things that they didn't want to.

In TOS everything is to protect the company only..... this is the main thing of not being read.

With everyone so eager to file a lawsuit over the smallest thing these days, companies have to do what they must in order to protect themselves. Otherwise, the lawyers will start circling like wolves and you'll be putting out more money on frivolous lawsuits than you can afford.

It's unfortunate, but true.

It is true that most people do not read TOS. If they do the scam will decrease significantly. Unfortunately most of us prefer to save "time" on sign up and risk to loose many hours after that to deal with dishonest sellers that hard our interest.

That's pretty amazing. I was taught that I should never sign something unless I read it. Thankfully, I read fairly fast, but it does take time to be sure one knows what one is signing.

It is very important to love reading and to be able to read fast. Otherwise scammers could put all the misleading "hidden" terms on the bottom of the TOS document and someone who's "not good at reading" would get so bored that they could fall asleep
