In most cases, affiliates don't advertise in the sense that a service provider would. Affiliates provide content to information hungry visitors, gain their trust, and, in related articles, they will explain why a certain product/service is worth buying.

It is a sad fact of life that most affiliates have no idea why they're recommending a product, other than the large potential commission.

If you are going to be an affiliate, the most common/effective approach would be to sign up for and create blog, or similar site, write articles related to the topic and post the affiliate link. Making videos and posting your link on the description is also a good way to promote your link.

These are all very good suggestions

This is spot on. Many times, I've run across a blog, and the writer makes a "review" of the hosting company. It's not the same as how a provider would advertise. At the same time, the affiliate is not invested in the product, or even cares about how the company is. They just want the commission.

Personally, I think affiliates should care more about the product they are selling. Especially when if the company does bad, then their sales go down.

Affiliates are good for those who are receiving high volume of traffic on the websites.

Why limit yourself to HostGator? Sign up for every hosting affiliate program you can find and advertise those on a combo hosting directory/review/blog website.

Don't just limit yourself to affiliate accounts, reseller accounts are the way to go! They're much more hands on and allows you to make as much profit as you choose since it's your own prices.

I have better idea for you. Try to sign up with any of the large publisher networks that offer affiliate programs, like CJ.com

You should create mailing list of potential web hosting customers and send them updates of particular web host via email. Make sure you maintain a good relationship with them not like a spammer. Coupon code need to be considered as well.
