Beats me.
I'm guessing if customers havn't heard of it, they'll stay away.

Just the way it works. The only I can see it changing if all the big hosting players start using a different control panel, which I don't see happening for a while yet.

same here i got a cheap DA hosting account just so i could learn DA as i have been offering hosting for 11 yrs and thought if i offered DA i would get another set of clients, i found it easy to use, so i started looking at VPS servers that i coukd offer DA. i found one VPS for $30 semi annual with free DA, so i took 1 as this would judge the market and if their was interest i would upgrade to a better server but $30 for 6 months seemed OK as a test production server. in the 6 months after major pushing of this i managed to get 1 client on the server who was a builder with a single page site with his details and services offered. so after the 6 months i decided to not renew the server and just moved the client to my main cpanel server.

It's a vicious circle. Every host offers it so clients will automatically look for it and if you're not offering it, it's a no no.

I'd really love to see usage figures though, in regards to the specific aspects of the control panel and which parts the clients use. I know that most of the customers I have will only use it when they're setting up their website (databases, email accounts) and then never really use it again.

May give DA another shot very soon, it was far cheaper to run and in terms of things going badly wrong like they can do with cPanel, never had that problem with DA.

cPanel is used so much in the hosting industry now that most people will only know cPanel and no other alternatives. So the customer gets used to using cPanel and once they have learnt how to use it unless cPanel severly affects the customer they dont see any other reason to use another control panel.

the problem you have is alot of hosting scenarios can be adapted to use Cpanel. there are also alot of plugins/addons available for Cpanel.

Also the addition of their dnsonly Cpanel addon makes it incredibly easy to setup and configure a dns cluster

People aren't loyal to cPanel, they're just used to it and reluctant to make any changes.

Customers love cPanel because it is what they know. There are better systems out nowadays however in the end it is all up to the customer as they pay your bills!

Clients preferre cPanel because it's a friendly GUI interface allowing them to make changes quickly in a short period of time. It's been around the hosting community for years and definitely known all around.

Thanks,

Well we are loyal because IMHO it's the best panel for Linux hosting and customers like it.

I rarely see someone who prefers a control panel other than cPanel.. In fact, my friend did told me he only used cPanel before and has no intention on changing..
