Transfer accounts from other, big-name companies.. Does it not?

We just had a sign up and a request to transfer their accounts from Host9 which I'm actually pretty surprised because I see Host9 as a fairly large(r) company..

Do you feel good when you get to transfer accounts from larger companies?

I feel good whenever I get any orders - doesn't matter where they come from or how big or small. I feel even better when they stay with us for years.

What customer need is quality service but not the company size, so it's quite common. Good luck :p

As for me I think middle-sized companies are much better.

Clients do realize that this unlimited scheme is not viable with real hosting needs.

+1 to Steve. There is nothing more exciting than getting an order in. New customer or transfer. Who cares. You would think it gets old after awhile but it doesn't.

When a company gets larger so their customer base, without proper planning, customer support often neglected thus customers look for a better company that offers superb customer support.

It's definitely always nice to see someone moving from such a big name company. Usually, clients fall for these "unlimited" schemes and then they get screwed over in the long-run.

However, you should mostly be happy with the amount of orders that your getting. Big or small, a client is a client and should be treated as such. Don't let yourself treat another client better than others just because of the company that he/she originated from.

People and customers have their own ideas and personal insight about decisions they make and big names in web hosting industry may not necessarily indicate feeling satisfied with the purchases. Searching the net, you will find hundreds of forum posts made by people who are dissatisfied with shared hosting accounts they have bought from companies and some of the names are big ones.

Even top rated firms may turn to bad after a while due to tens of reasons like overselling, lack of support and using unreliable hardware systems. Of course the real art shown by professional webmasters and companies' admins is to keep their older customers satisfied through providing them with reliable hosting packages which are uptime mostly and loaded with great features that beat competitors' bundles.

One of the reasons why a few companies have managed to have tens of thousands of customers worldwide is because of their older and returning customers' ideas. Since they are satisfied with their purchases, so they will renew their accounts almost every year and even talking about the firms while visiting blogs and discussions forums, spreading the word about the companies and boosting their popularity.

I was reading on another web hosting forum that many thought unlimited and free web hosting services were diminishing the profits of all web hosts - true/false?
Or are the unlimited/free sites fly-by-night operations?

Haha, think that made my day

As to the topic before it undoubtedly takes the usual direction following such comments (I did have to resist ), it is always a nice feeling to help a user let alone have them switch to you... additionally knowing your existing customers have referred customers to you is certainly also rewarding considering that people are more likely to discuss bad experiences then good with such services as ours.
