That last I read a couple of days ago LiveZilla was still FREE. However they do offer some features at a premium cost.

if anyone has version 3 installed then this will remain free, but their will be no support available for this from livezilla and for the time being they will provide security updates, which they will review in 6 months time.

if anyone downloads livezilla now they will get version 4 on a 14 day free trial then after that they will have to pay per operator

For big corporations or rich infrastructure this cost is minor. but for 1 operator for a small business this could be a unrealistic cost. The best thing that made their services great was it was free. Now it is far from free and the question is, how does LiveZilla compete in the paid market. I recall that they had continue updates with security and encryption patches. This tells me that even though alot of though went in to their system that they have made mistakes in the past. Last thing that any company wants is a insecure system that may cause problems in the future.

I no way am I saying this is the case with livezilla but I hope that there is less gaps in their security as the past has shown.

when you look at other paid live chat software they all average for a lifetime unlimited operator licence of approx. 300 USD (211 euros) and no where near livezillas 1000 euros (1415 USD)

Price you pay for "free" software I guess.
Perhaps a paid software would have been a better option to begin with.

Wow, that's quite a big jump. I'm assuming this is only if you decide to upgrade to 4.0?

Maybe. Not that paid software is any guarantee of anything. It has happened that a developer poured all resources into some new version, forcing old version customers upgrade sooner or later at a higher price. Sometimes that was coupled with a not so great new piece of software and poor support of it.

For the small hosts, getting decent software for no money has surely been a boon - while it lasted. Now it's simply time to pay up, or move on. It's the bigger hosts that would have a bit of a more complicated decision to make IMHO.

yes its only if you upgrade to version 4.0 or for any new clients of livezilla.

for the time being version 3 will remain free and security updates will be provided, but no general support offered. this will be reviewed in 6 months so i was told in an email.

As per what I know, Livezilla is open source so we can go ahead customizing it and its really a solid platform for chat and I really don't think its ease of use can be offered by any other.

yes you could download bversion 3 without registration, but nopw you can only download version 4 on a 14 day free trial and then you have to pay for it and if you want unlimited operators then it will cost you 1000 euros (1500 USD)
