Terry, so those who are already using the Livezilla older version on their websites, what would happen to them? Any official statement?

read the whole thread.

anyone using version 3 can use this free for as longs as they want, but livezilla will offer no support for this version, but will still issue security updates . this will be reviewed in 6 months.

version 4 will not be free

this is the info i got direct from livezilla in an email as i did not want to be forced to update to version 4 and having to pay.

That's the only good thing Livezilla did by making no forceful upgrade for old users. Well, i would surely take a look onto the new version. Lets see whether its worth or not.

Its a huge jump and I think these huge jumps should have been avoided by the company if they wants to succeed.

from 0 to 1000, its too much

well after their so called support reply i removed livezilla totally and went with the WHMCS live chat by stardevelop.

i had an idea a while back livezilla were starting to struggle and would end up charging for the chat when they started removing services such as Geotracking and charging for them, but 0 to 1000 is way OTT

Its really amazing.

Although LiveZilla is a great software but price they are charging is too much for a live chat software.

Time to dust off my Kayako license and get that back up and running - own that one too for many many years!

Sad to see LiveZilla take such a big jump in price - half of it and I'd be more than happy to pay, but I'm not going to kick out the 899 Euros for the unlimited operator license and still have to kick out more money for the reports, stats etc etc.

Back to Kayako for me.

true when you look at Kayako engage it works out just under $300 USD a year compared to Livezillas now 1500USD a year

Livezilla seems to have made an absurd move. Some are willing to consider the fee but most are looking into other services and I can only imagine that a mass exodus will occur.

They should have stuck with FREE (or low priced) and splattered Advertisements all over the place - even that's bareable (as it's free or cheap) but there's just no point when they want to charge the fees they're looking for.

well i would of happily stated with version 3 which they say will remain free, but when i had a small problem and theior response was

"you've been told before we don't offer v3 support if you want support upgrade to v4, don't ask again"

so basically this made me decide they can stick it if thats their attitude so i went with the whmcs live chat

Is that an actual, exact quote? If so, then they've got bigger problems than the pricing.

You can get away with quite obscene pricing if you act courteously, respond fast to inquiries, outdo just about every competitor when it comes to professionalism etc.

Just a quick name that comes to mind would be Rackspace with their brand built around their "Fanatical Support" trademark.
